Tub chairs, although often thought to be a modern phenomenon, have been dated back to the 18th century when they were made popular amongst the very wealthy by King Louis XV. Before the tub chair most chairs were built using wood and upholstery was very uncommon. In the 18th century comfort began to be considered much more amongst the wealthy and expensive upholstery began to be used.
The tub chair was brought to America in the late 18th century and made popular in 1797 by a cabinet maker called George Bright. They continued to be popular throughout Victorian England often being found in many Gentleman’s Clubs and in use in the homes of the wealthy.
This classic chair continued to be a favourite and throughout the 20th century was modernized by a number of designers. In the 21st century they once again have proved to be a long term favourite as all things retro became fashionable. Today we see the tub chair in a wide range of styles and finishes and the classic fabric tub chair can be bought in many colours and patterns.
We provide a range of upholstered tub chairs in a number of styles and colours. These can be used in cafes, coffee shops, pubs and bars. Add comfort to any area with this classic chair and ensure that users are relaxed and enjoying their hospitality experience.
We offer a free delivery service to UK mainland addresses as standard, though some highland addresses are excluded from this service. Stock can often be limited as many of our tub chairs are made to order. To be sure contact our sales team who are happy to help.
